Tata Motors dealers across India are offering hefty discounts on the Harrier and Hexa. While the Tata Harrier is available with discounts as large as Rs. 1.75 lakh, the Hexa (just discontinued from production) is available at discounts of upto Rs. 2.3 lakhs. These discounts are meant to exhaust stocks of the Bharat Stage 4 (BS4) Harrier and Hexa, given the fact that the BS6 (Bharat Stage 6) emission norms will come into place from the 1st of April, 2020. BS4 vehicles will no longer be registered at RTOs post April 1st, 2020. So, if you want to make the best of discounts, go ahead buy the Harrier/Hexa with hefty discounts before car makers stop making the BS4 versions of these cars. For their part, car makers are slowing production of BS4 cars, and are all set to bring in BS6 cars well ahead of the deadline.

Tata Harrier Dark Edition 1

The Tata Harrier is currently available in 4 variants: XE, XM, XT and XZ. All variants are mechanically identical. The Harrier is powered by a 2 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged Fiat Multijet diesel engine with 150 Bhp-350 Nm outputs. This engine is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox that drives the front wheels of the 5 seat SUV. Prices of the Harrier start from Rs. 12.99 lakhs. The SUV squares off against the likes of the Kia Seltos, Mahindra XUV500, Hyundai Creta and the MG Hector.

The Harrier’s top-end trims are fully loaded. Leather wrapped seats, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ABS, 6 airbags, hill hold, push button start, keyless entry, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, multi-speaker stereo, reverse parking camera and sensors, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and multi-drive modes are the various features on offer. Tata now offers a blacked out version of the Harrier, called the Dark Edition. Early next year, the Harrier will go BS6. It’ll also get a 6 speed automatic gearbox option with the BS6 diesel engine. A significant price increase is likely for the BS6 version.

Tata Hexa Xm+

The Hexa, on the other hand, is a body-on-ladder frame equipped crossover that can seat 7 adults in great comfort. The crossover is the largest and heaviest car in Tata Motors’ line-up, and is available with a 2.2 liter turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 154 Bhp-400 Nm. This engine is offered with 6 speed manual and torque converter automatic gearbox options. Rear wheel drive and four wheel drive layouts are also on offer with the Hexa, making it a go-anywhere car. Prices of the Hexa start from Rs. 12.99 lakhs, and Tata Motors has just stopped production of this vehicle. It will not be made BS6 compliant, and will instead be replaced by a 7 seat version of the Harrier, called the Gravitas. Tata Motors dealers have some leftover stock of the Hexa, which is now selling at discounts of up to Rs. 2.3 lakh.
