The Bharat Stage 6 (BS6) emission norms compliant Ford EcoSport sub-4 meter compact SUV is here, and it’s only Rs. 13,000 pricier than the BS4 variant. This should come as a relief to prospective Ford EcoSport buyers, most of whom were worried about a big price increase when the compact SUV shifted from BS4 to BS6. The Ford EcoSport BS6 now starts from Rs. 8.04 lakhs for the base petrol trim while the base diesel trim starts from Rs. 8.58 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi.

The Ford Ecosport BS6 is now available only with two engine options, and the 1 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol motor is no longer offered. The petrol engine of the BS6 EcoSport is the 1.5 liter-3 cylinder naturally aspirated Dragon unit, with power and torque outputs of 122 Bhp-149 Nm. This engine is offered with two gearbox options: a 5 speed manual and a 6 speed torque converter automatic. The EcoSport Automatic is the pick of its segment for those who want a smooth shifting, reliable automatic gearbox equipped compact SUV.
The EcoSport Diesel retains the tried and tested 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged TDCI motor with 98.6 Bhp-215 Nm outputs. A five speed manual gearbox is standard with the EcoSport Diesel, which does not offer an automatic gearbox option. While the BS6 EcoSport is available in 6 variants, the diesel powered SUV is available in 6 variants. The BS6 EcoSport will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV300 and the Tata Nexon in the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment.
A 3 year/100,000 Kms warranty is standard on all variants of the BS6 EcoSport. Key features on the higher trims of the SUV include 6 airbags, electric sunroof, automatic headlamps and wipers, cruise control, ABS+EBD, traction control and hill hold assist on select variants, a Ford SYNC3 8 inch touchscreen infotainment unit with voice commands, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push button start, keyless entry, alloy wheels, dual tone paint scheme and roof rails. Bookings for the BS6 EcoSport are now open at all Ford India dealerships, and deliveries will begin soon.
