German car manufacturer Volkswagen recently unveiled their first product in the compact SUV segment yesterday. The car is called Taigun and will compete with cars like Creta in the segment. It is the first product under group’s India 2.0 project on MQB A0 IN platform. Here we have an official video of the all-new Taigun compact SUV.
The Taigun looks very similar to the international model T-Cross SUV. The video stresses on the sharp lines that are there on the Taigun SUV. starting from the front, Taigun has a angular design which we have seen in other bigger SUVs from Volkswagen. chrome has been generously used on the front of the car. It can be seen on the front grille and even there is a chrome strip on the lower part of the bumper which also wraps around the big fog lamps. The skid plate gives it a proper SUV look and is definitely a good looking car from the front.
On the side, we have a sporty looking dual tone machine cut alloy wheels and the there are cladding around the wheel arches and side of the car to give it that rugged SUV look. Coming to the rear, it has a uniquely designed tail lamp setup that runs across the boot. The LED tail lamp at the rear is joined in a way that it looks like a single piece with Volkswagen logo in the centre. There is a spoiler on the top and the lower portion of the rear bumper also gets the brushed aluminium finish with reflector lights integrated in it. There is a skid plate at the rear as well. The overall design of the Taigun SUV consists of straight lines to give it that sharp look. On the C pillar Volkswagen has given a stickers which along with the completely blacked out roof add to the sportiness of the vehicle.
On the inside, Taigun gets a layered dashboard with body coloured inserts at places. It gets a touchscreen infotainment system with an all-digital instrument cluster which may not be there when the final product gets launched. Some of the features that was their on the model displayed during the unveil might not make it to production version to keep the costs down in a price sensitive market like ours. VW Taigun will be displayed at the Volkswagen stall at the Auto Expo along with other models.
