Hyundai Venue entered the Indian market last year to become one of the best-selling vehicles in the segment. Kia is now ready with its third offering in the market, which is a sub-4m compact SUV. The all-new vehicle will be launched in the Indian market on 18th September and will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the likes. However, the most challenging competition of the Sonet will be the Venue, which is a car from the sister-manufacturer. How do they match with each other? Here is a video by MyCarHelpLine that shows both the vehicles side-by-side.

The video starts with comparing the looks of both the cars. The Hyundai Venue gets a distinctive look because of its split headlamps whereas the Sonet gets the regular set-up with a Tigernose grille at the front. Both the vehicles have similar length because of the sub-4m restriction. However, feature-wise, the Venue gets projector headlamps with halogen lamps while Sonet gets all-LED lamps at the front. Both the vehicles get projector fog lamps as well. Both cars also get LED DRL.

The Sonet is also slightly taller than the Venue and it offers a higher ground clearance than the Venue. The Sonet is higher by 15mm. The Hyundai Venue offers a sophisticated clean look at the rear while the Sonet offers a lot of features including a reflector that connects both the tail lamps.

Both cars get the same set of engine options. There are 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine options with both Venue and Sonet. The Tech Line of Sonet comes with dual-tone interior while the GT Line comes with the all-black theme. The Sonet offers torque convertor automatic with the diesel, which is first-in-segment. The Venue only offers an all-black cabin. Kia and Hyundai also offer different instrument cluster. The Sonet top-end offers a Bose sound system, ventilated front seats, remote engine start and more.

Both Venue and Sonet offer similar space in the rear. The video further says that the Sonet gets a stiffer suspension set-up compared to the Venue to reduce the body roll. However, at the higher speeds, the Venue’s steering feedback will give you more confidence.

Kia is yet to announce the warranty options but it is likely to offer a 3-year standard warranty, just like the Venue. However, the Venue’s maintenance cost seems to be lower than the Sonet if compared side-by-side as per the video.
