German car manufacturer Volkswagen has been planning to come up with new products for Indian market. They have also unveiled some of their new products earlier this year and one such product is soon to hit the Indian market is Volkswagen Taigun. It is a compact SUV that is expected to take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the segment. Volkswagen Taigun is Volkswagen group’s first product under 2.0 project. Volkswagen has now started sharing more information regarding the upcoming Taigun SUV on their official twitter handle.

The tweet shows how the SUV looks from the front and shares details about its launch, design, platform, engine and transmission options and so on. In terms of design, the upcoming Taigun SUV gets a very similar design to that of T-Cross SUV. There is ample amount of chrome used at the front and the grille gets a horizontal slats with chrome garnishes in it. The headlamps are sleek units and look like extended part of the grille itself.

There is a chrome strip around the fog lamps area and the skid plate gives it a very muscular stance. Moving to the side profile the it gets cladding around the wheel arches to give it a rugged look and the SUV itself has a boxy design. The machine cut alloy wheels and the blacked out roof look good too. Moving to the rear side, the gets a uniquely designed tail lamp. It is an all-LED unit that runs across the boot. Volkswagen logo is placed in the centre too.
Just like at the front, there is a skid plate at the rear and a bumper with chrome garnish on it. On the inside, the Taigun is expected to get a premium looking cabin with modern features that are commonly found on cars of this segment. It will get features like a fully digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment screen, electric sunroof, multi function steering wheel, automatic climate control and so on. Along with these features, Volkswagen will also include a host safety features which new age customers in our country have actually started to care about.
Volkswagen Taigun is based on MQB A0 platform and will be the first vehicle in India to get this platform. Like many other manufacturers, Volkswagen has also moved away from diesel engines and are concentrating on petrol engine options. The upcoming Taigun SUV is expected to get a turbocharged petrol engine with manual or 7-speed DSG gearbox option. Volkswagen is expected to launch the all-new Taigun SUV in India later next year.
