After a series of recent Global NCAP testing, Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki has got into a sort of cold war on the social media platforms. Soon after Global NCAP awarded zero safety rating stars to the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Tata shared a picture of a broken cup with coffee beans mocking the S-Presso. Later, Tata Motors also released an image mocking the WagonR, which had scored 2 stars by the safety tests done by Global NCAP agency. Now Maruti Suzuki has responded to the same with an image on its social media platforms.

Maruti Suzuki has released a new graphic ad of the WagonR saying that it is trusted by more than 24 lakh families in India. Maruti Suzuki has posted the image with a caption “That’s what makes us who we are: a truly Dil Se Strong connection with the entire WagonR family!”.

It should be noted that Tata Motors is promoting Tiago with such advertisements. The Tiago is the safest car in the segment according to the ratings by Global NCAP. It has received as many as four stars. However, the footwell and the structure of the vehicle have been rated as unstable. Tata Motors has one of the best safety-rated model line-ups in India. The Tata Tiago and Tigor have four-star safety ratings while the Tata Altroz and the Tata Nexon have full five-star safety rating. Other vehicles like the Harrier is yet to be tested by the safety rating agency.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR is one of the best-selling cars in the Indian market for a long time now. It was first launched in 1999 and has sold 24 lakh units as per the data released by the brand in December 2019.

Earlier Maruti Suzuki released an official statement after Global NCAP released the ratings for the S-Presso. Here is the statement,

“Safety is a critical issue and is therefore closely regulated by governments around the world as they are responsible for the safety of the people in their countries. It cannot be left to the opinion of any self proclaimed party. The Government of India has recently increased the stringency of car crash test standards and made them identical to European standards. All products of the company are fully compliant with these global standards and duly tested and certified by the Government of India.”

Maruti Suzuki also responded to an earlier dig by Tata Motors at the S-Presso. They shared an image from official Twitter handle of the brand saying “We are India’s favourite automobile brand” with a disclaimer saying “This claim is undisputed”.

During the same result announcement, Hyundai Grand i10 received two stars and Kia Seltos received three stars. Today, Global N-CAP has announced that all-new Mahindra Thar has a 4-star safety rating. It should be noted that the Mahindra XUV300 is the safest vehicle in the Indian market and it has scored the most number of points. Global N-CAP in recent results also announced that Kia Seltos has 3-star safety rating while the Hyundai Grand i10 has 2-star rating.
