Tata Motors has managed to double its sales for November 2020 when compared to November 2019. Credit can be given to the newly updated line-up of cars that Tata introduces. Tata launched the 2020 Harrier, Altroz, updated Tata Nexon, Nexon EV, updated Tiago and the Tigor. To continue the good sales number it is important for Tata to launch good vehicles just like they did this year. Fortunately, the Indian manufacturer is all set to launch a number of new vehicles next year. Today we list down 6 new cars that will join Tata’s stable in 2021.
Tata Gravitas
The Gravitas is an elder sibling to the Tata Harrier. The Harrier is a success in the Indian market. The new SUV was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020 while the price was not shared by Tata Motors, they did allow people to see the interior and the exterior of the Gravitas. It will become the new flagship from the Indian manufacturer. The changes will only stay cosmetic as it will continue to get the same 2.0-litre Kyrotec diesel engine as the Harrier which is sourced from Fiat. The engine produces 170 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 350 Nm. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Gravitas is 63 mm longer and 80 mm taller than the Harrier. This helps in opening up headroom and legroom for the third-row seats and its passengers. It will be the first car from Tata with which you would be able to opt with captain seating for the second-row. The interior will get a beige theme for a more airy feel. While the front of SUV will stay same, at the rear there will be a new sleeker pair of tail lamps. Tata Gravitas will be priced from Rs. 14 lakhs ex-showroom to Rs. 20 lakhs ex-showroom.

Tata Hexa BS6
Tata showcased the new Safari edition of the Hexa which was supposed to be launched in mid-2020. However, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the launch of the Hexa BS6 has been postponed to 2021. It will not get any cosmetic upgrades, but the engine will be BS6 emission norms compliant. However, it is still not known if the Hexa BS6 will be powered by the Harrier’s 2.0-litre Kyrotec diesel engine or the current 2.2-litre diesel engine will be made BS6 compliant.
Tata Hornbill or HBX
Tata HBX Concept was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020 and Tata also said that the Concept was 80 percent close to production. It is rumoured that the HBX will be called Hornbill when it hits production. We have already seen the HBX being tested on the Indian roads. It will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine which we have seen on the Tiago, Tigor and the Altroz. The engine produces 86 PS of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. Expect the Hornbill to be one of the most feature equipped vehicle in the segment. It will get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, JBL sound speakers, semi-digital instrument cluster and drive modes.
Tata Altroz Turbo
The Altroz is the first premium hatchback from Tata Motors. The Altroz Turbo is basically a more powerful version of the Altroz. The Turbo variant has been spied on the Indian roads and spec sheet was also leaked earlier. It will be powered by the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that we have seen on the Nexon. However, the power outputs will be detuned to produce 110 HP of max power and a peak torque output of 140 Nm. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.
Tata Altroz DCT
Some people really liked the Altroz but wanted an automatic transmission, which is still lacking. People want the convenience of driving an automatic transmission and Tata could not offer the AMT because that would be inferior in the premium hatchback segment. All other competitors are using a CVT or a Dual-Clutch transmission. So, Tata Motors decided to opt for a DCT transmission, which is currently under development and will soon launch the line-up. It is expected that the DCT will only be available with the turbo petrol engine.
Tata Altroz EV
Tata showcased the Altroz EV at the Auto Expo 2020. Just like the Nexon EV, the Altroz EV will also get blue accents all over the exterior. We expect Tata Motors to use the same Ziptron powertrain as the Nexon EV. So, it will have a 30kWh battery pack which should return around 315 km of range on a single charge. Tata will also offer regenerative braking and drive modes to extend the range.
