India’s largest manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for 2021. They launched the 2020 Vitara Brezza which was again one of the most selling compact-SUV in the Indian market. They also launched the 2020 Dzire which is also the segment-leading compact-sedan. Both the vehicles got new engines and some cosmetic upgrades too. Maruti Suzuki also launched a facelift of the Ignis which now looks more rugged. The manufacturer had to discontinue their diesel engines because of the BS6 emission norms. So, they have decided to launch a factory-fitted CNG option for some of their vehicles. They will also be launching quite a few new vehicles in 2021 to stay in the competition and update their line-up. Today, we list 5 cars that will be joining Maruti Suzuki’s stable or will be getting a facelift.
WagonR 7-seater
WagonR has clocked a decent number of sales. We saw the 7-seater concept of it at the 2013 Indonesia International Motor Show. However, it has been quite some time now and we now have an all-new WagonR on which the new 7-seater version will be based upon. Currently, Maruti Suzuki only offers the Ertiga as a 7-seater option. The WagonR 7-seater will be a much cheaper option and might attract a lot of attention as it will fall under the budget of a lot of people. It will be costing around Rs. 80,000 more than the standard WagonR. Maruti Suzuki WagonR 7-seater will be competing against the Renault Triber, which is currently the cheapest 7-seater you can buy in the Indian market.

Jimny
Suzuki Jimny has proven to be a successful product in the international market. However, in India, there is not much demand for 3-door off-road SUVs. This is one of the reasons that the 2020 Thar opted to go with a front-facing rear seat so that it can be more practical.
When compared, the Jimny is not that spacious so to tackle that Maruti Suzuki will be developing a five-door version of the Jimny that will come with proper rear seats. It will be powered by the 1.5-litre petrol engine that we have seen on the Ciaz, Ertiga and other Maruti Suzuki vehicles. Maruti Suzuki will offer four-wheel-drive with low-range gearbox for off-roading.
Celerio Facelift
The Celerio is now quite an old car and it has not received any major upgrade since its launch. Maruti Suzuki knows this and is working on a new Celerio which will be a departure from the current design. It has been spied quite a few times on our Indian roads and you can read more about it by clicking here. The front and rear of the 2021 Celerio has been completely redesigned. The interior of the hatchback will also be tweaked. It will still get the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 67 PS of max power and 90 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or an AMT gearbox.
Swift Facelift
We saw a facelift of the Dzire that Maruti Suzuki launched earlier this year. We expect the same updates to come to Swift. So, it will get a revamped front bumper and a larger front grille. However, the biggest update will be to the engine of the 2021 Swift. It will be powered by a new DualJet 1.2-litre petrol engine. The engine will deliver 82 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 113 Nm. It will get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. There will also be an option of a 5-speed AMT.
XL5
A more premium version of the WagonR has been recently spied being tested on the Indian roads. It will get a more attractive exterior and interior design. Being a premium hatchback it will be sold through the Nexa dealerships of Maruti Suzuki. To differentiate from the regular WagonR, the front and rear of the XL6 will be tweaked. It is expected to be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine that we have seen on other Maruti Suzuki vehicles.
