India’s second largest car manufacturer Hyundai has several models on offer in their portfolio. They recently launched the all-new generation i20 premium hatchback in the Indian market. Hyundai is one of those brand who has always been experimenting with new technology and launching it in the market. One such technology that was recently introduced in their sub-4 meter compact SUV Venue was iMT or Intelligent Manual transmission. It is different from regular automatic transmission and here we have a video of renowned tennis player Sania Mirza driving the new Hyundai Venue iMT and sharing her experience.
The video has been shared by Hyundai India on their official youtube channel. Hyundai Venue is one of the most popular sub-4 meter compact SUV in the segment. It competes with the likes of Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, FOrd EcoSport, Kia Sonet and recently launched Nissan Magnite in the segment. Hyundai Venue was launched in the market last year and ever since then, it has been doing great in the segment.

The whole video is about the new iMT transmission and shows what difference it makes while driving. iMT in simple words is clutchless manual transmission. The driver can simply shift between the gears like he or she does in a manual transmission but, there is no physical clutch pedal.
The whole process controlled by sensors which helps in seamless gearshifts while driving This comes in handy for those who want control over gears while driving. This is not possible in a conventional automatic transmission as it automatically upshifts and downshifts. Here in iMT however, the driver if he wants can drive in second gear whole day and the car won’t upshift or downshift until and unless the driver does it.
As soon as the driver is moves the gear lever by the margin, the sensor sends a message to the clutch and it automatically gets engaged and as soon as the vehicle is in gear, the clutch is disengaged. Sania Mirza in this video seems to be quite happy with the way, Venue iMT performs. This new technology gives you the freedom of shifting the gears manually with the convenience of an automatic transmission.
Like any other Hyundai vehicle available in the country, Venue is also a feature loaded vehicle. It offers wireless phone charging, BlueLink connected car services, touchscreen infotainment system, premium audio system, multi function steering wheel, rear AC vents, electric sunroof and so on.
Hyundai Venue is available with three engine options. The iMT gearbox seen in the video is only available with a 1.0 litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. This is the most powerful engine available with Venue and it generates 120 Ps and 172 Nm of peak torque. Apart from iMT transmission, Venue 1.0 turbo is also available with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
The other engine options that are available with Venue SUV are a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine. Both the engine are available with manual transmission only. Apart from Venue, the same iMT gearbox option is also available with Kia Sonet 1.0 turbo and recently launched Hyundai i20 turbo.
