Nissan Magnite waiting period hits a whopping 8 months due to massive demand

Nissan India recently launched their all-new sub-4 meter compact SUV Magnite in the market. It is an all-new SUV that competing with cars like Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport in the segment. It is a bold looking SUV that was specifically designed for Indian customers and will be sold in global markets. Unlike other Nissan products that we have seen in the past, the Magnite did receive a very good response  from the customers. The response was so overwhelming that within five days after the launch, Nissan received over 5,000 booking for Magnite. The demand is so high that waiting period for this new SUV has gone longer. Some of the variants have a waiting period as long as 8 months.

It is currently the base variant with the longest waiting period currently. Magnite was a actually a product that would have decided the fate of the brand in India and Nissan did pretty well with that. They priced the SUV at a very competitive price. The base variant starts at Rs 4.99 lakh, ex-showroom and even the top-end trim is priced under 10 lakh ex-showroom. The tempting price for the base variant is what is attracting more customers towards this trim and the SUV has a waiting period as long as 8 months depending upon the state from which you are planning to buy it.

Chennai and Mumbai has a waiting period of up to 3.5 months, Kolkata has waiting period for 3 months, Bangalore and Hyderabad has a waiting period of 4 months and Delhi has the longest waiting period of 8 months. Pune is the only place at the moment with absolutely no waiting period for this SUV. The current prices that were announced by Nissan are just introductory and will increase December 31, 2020.

Nissan Magnite as mentioned above is a bold and beautiful looking SUV. It has got a large Datsun inspired front grille with chrome outlines on it. It is also the first SUV in Nissan portfolio to have the new Nissan logo. It gets sleek looking full LED headlamps. The fog lamps are placed on the lower portion of the bumper. It looks butch and premium at the same time.

Coming to the side profile, the Magnite gets a very unique looking dual tone alloy wheels. The SUV retains a boxy design from the side It has thick claddings around the wheel arches and side body. The SUV offers a decent list of usable features like a wireless charging, touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, Automatic AC and so on. The SUV is available with petrol engine options only. There are two engine options available with this SUV. It has a 1.0 litre naturally aspirated and 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine. The naturally aspirated engine and 72 Ps and 96 Nm of peak torque. The turbo charged petrol engine generates 100 Ps and 160 Nm of torque. The naturally aspirated engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox option only. The turbo petrol on the other hand gets manual and CVT gearbox options.
