Mahindra launched the Thar last year and it has been immensely popular since then. The waiting periods for the Thar has crossed 12 months for some variants. DC design is one of the most well-known design studios in our country. Many famous celebrities have modified vehicles through DC design. They released sketches of a modified Thar last year which got a lot of attention. Well, now DC has released a concept sketch of a Mahindra Thar 6×6 which looks absolutely insane.

The first thing that we notice is that the Thar 6×6 looks a lot different than the stock Thar. The 6×6 looks like it is from the future. Also, the stock Thar just like other SUVs are boxy but the concept here has a lot more curves which should make the vehicle aerodynamic.

Up-front, we get a 7-slat vertical slat grille and rectangular headlamps. There are huge wheel arches boxy wheel arches in front of which the headlamps are placed. There are grilles in the bonnet so that the engine heat can escape easily. There is also a steel bumper placed in front of the vehicle which should help in protecting the vehicle. At the side, there are different alloy wheels finished in chrome. Also, there are no traditional outside rearview mirrors. Instead, there are cameras that can provide a view of what is behind.

There is a wrap-around windshield because the body panels have so many curves. There is also a split moonroof that lets in the light of the cabin. Another thing that you would notice is that this Thar is a 6×6 which means it has another set of rear wheels. At the rear, there is an open space where you can keep your luggage. There is also a full-size spare wheel which is also an alloy wheel. There is also a new set of LED tail lamps.

DC Design has also worked on the interior. It gets red and black leather upholstery. The dashboard is up-right and we can also see Violet ambient lighting. The front seats are bucket seats and there is a frameless rearview mirror. The multi-function steering wheel and the touchscreen infotainment system is the same as the stock Thar. DC has added an additional AC vent in the centre. The stock Thar comes with two AC vents in the central console.

The additional set of wheels help in distributing the weight more evenly on the ground which can help in increasing the grip while doing off-roading. Because the power is also distributed more evenly the SUV can tackle rough patches while off-roading. It is important to note that this is just a rendering that DC has shared on their Facebook page.

The cost of the modification is not shared by the DC Designs. Another thing to note is that modifying a vehicle to such a level is not allowed according to the RTO. The person would have to approve the modifications through ARAI for road-worthiness. Only then the Registration Certificate would be updated.
