Mahindra and Mahindra have launched the new Bolero Neo at a starting price of Rs. 8.48 lakhs ex-showroom. It gets modern styling and equipment over the regular Bolero. The Bolero Neo will be replacing the TUV300 which was discontinued when the BS6 emission norms kicked in last year. There is a certain trust that is associated with the Bolero nameplate and Mahindra is trying to offer the same now with a more modern vehicle.
Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said, “The Bolero brand has witnessed strong loyalty and ruled Indian roads for over two decades now. With this product we have combined the customers’ affinity towards brand Bolero with their modern outlook, persona and aspirations. The design, performance and engineering enhancements in the new Bolero Neo blend well with the authentic Bolero DNA, making it suitable for the bold and fearless Young Bharat. The addition of Bolero Neo to the Bolero SUV brand portfolio will help us retain Bolero amongst the top 10 selling SUV’s in the country.”
The interior of the SUV has also been designed by Pininfarina. The SUV is now based on the third generation of the ladder frame chassis that is shared with the Thar and the Scorpio. This should help in making the ride quality better. However, as it is still a ladder frame chassis, it should handle bad roads better than the monocoque chassis.

Velusamy R, Chief of Global Product Development, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., said, “Built on the third-generation chassis which it shares with the Scorpio and Thar, the Bolero Neo has powerful attributes that set it apart. Its rugged body-on-frame construction, the proven Mahindra mHawk diesel engine and Multi Terrain Technology give Bolero Neo the ability and confidence to conquer rough terrain. Comprehensively loaded with all the key features, the Bolero Neo reiterates our unstinted commitment towards product quality, performance, core SUV attributes and value.”
The engine that will be doing duty on the Bolero Neo will be the 1.5-litre mHawk diesel engine. It produces 100 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 160 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox that drives the rear wheels. It also comes with micro-hybrid technology that can electronically start/stop the vehicle. This can help in saving some fuel when you are standing at a traffic light.
Variants
Mahindra will be offering three variants of the Bolero Neo. There will be N4, N8 and N10. The N4 is the base variant while the N10 will be the top-spec variant. There will also be an N10 (O) variant that will come with Multi-Terrain Technology. Through this, the driver would be able to manually lock the differential. This can be very useful in tricky situations where there is a risk of the vehicle getting stuck.
Features and equipment
Mahindra Bolero Neo comes with a front and rear armrest, electric adjustment for the ORVMs, front and rear power windows, keyless entry, LED Daytime Running Lamps with static bending headlamps, foglamps and alloy wheels.
Moreover, now you also get cruise control, multi-information display, Eco Mode, Blue Sense mobile app connectivity, dependable cornering brake control, reverse assist and a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
