Mahindra launched the XUV 700 at a jaw-dropping price of Rs. 11.99 lakhs ex-showroom. Mahindra claimed that the SUV would have a top speed of 200 kmph which is quite astounding for a SUV of this size. It seems like Mahindra’s claims are real. The XUV 700 with the petrol engine was able to hit a speed of 197.4 kmph while the diesel engine reached a speed of 191.8 kmph. The post says that the SUV would have hit 200 kmph and these figures were taken on a VBOX.
The petrol engine hit a ton in just 9.5 seconds, it reached 160 kmph in 25.89 seconds and completed a quarter-mile in 16.92 seconds at a speed of 135.5 kmph. The diesel engine on the other hand hits a ton in 9.88 seconds and 160 kmph comes in 26.11 seconds. The quarter-mile takes 17.17 seconds and XUV did it at 133.8 kmph.
The diesel engine with an automatic gearbox will also be offered with all-wheel drive and only on the higher variants. The all-wheel drive is not for hardcore off-roading like we have seen on the Thar. However, it will be helpful in case you are considering taking your XUV 700 in snowy or slippery places like Ladakh or Spiti.
