Smallest among Audi crossovers, the Q2 has made a debut at the ongoing 2016 Geneva International Motor Show. Based on the lightweight MQB platform, the vehicle weighs just 1205 kilos. To put into perspective, the Ford EcoSport weighs a little more than 1250 kg.
Powering the Q2 will be a range of turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, with capacities varying between 1- and 2-liters, and power outputs from 114 hp on the base 1-liter TFSI to 187 hp on the top-spec 2-liter TDI. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be available, and while the vehicle is front-wheel drive, there will also be the optional quattro AWD system available.
On the inside, the cabin is said to be more spacious than that of the A3, with which it shares the platform. Apart from the space for five occupants, there’s 405-liters of boot space available, too. In terms of driving, the Q2 gets multiple drive options, and when in off-road mode, it can offer a maximum ground clearance of 200 mm.
While it’s too soon to say if and when Audi will bring this to India, the international sales will start in mid-2016.
