The upcoming sub-compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki, the Vitara Brezza, will be launched on March 8 in Mumbai, the company has announced in an official invite. Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, the Vitara Brezza has been developed in India.
Powering the sub-four-meter SUV will be the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter diesel engine that makes 89 hp and 200 Nm of maximum torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard while an AMT can be added at a later stage, some of the earlier reports had revealed. And while AWD is not relevant to the segment, the company can introduce a petrol engined version, at a later stage, too.
While Maruti has recently shown (with the Baleno) that aggressive pricing is one of the company’s strong points, so expecting a starting price of Rs 6.5-7 lakhs won’t be wrong. Its main rivals, both the EcoSport and the TUV300, are priced over Rs 7 lakhs.
To be sold through MSIL dealerships (and not the premium NEXA ones), the Vitara Brezza is likely to be another hit from the company.
