While people didn’t bother about safety previously, both manufacturers and customers now consider safety an important factor in their car purchase decisions. Keeping that in mind, we have compiled a list of the 10 cheapest cars to offer dual airbags and ABS with EBD.

Airbags are an integral part of passive safety. Passive safety is anything that protects you after the crash has occured. An airbag will reduce the possibility of you hitting the dashboard or the steering wheel when a crash occurs, thus cushioning the blow.

ABS (Anti Lock Braking System) on the other hand is an Active safety feature that kicks in to prevent the crash from happening. It will help you to maintain directional control under severe braking and will prevent the brakes from locking. EBD is electronic brake force distribution. What it does is vary the amount of brake pressure applied to each wheel under braking to make sure the vehicle stops in the desired braking distance. It also makes sure that the weight transfer is done smoothly and that the car doesn’t go out of control under braking.

Here is our list of the cheapest cars in India that offer all three safety features.

Maruti Ignis

Maruti Ignis 5

The Ignis is now the cheapest car to get ABS, EBD and dual airbags. As a part of Maruti’s new bid to make safe cars, the company had decided to provide the safety kit as standard on its models sold through Nexa. Hence the Ignis becomes the cheapest car in the country to get the kit. Pricing for the Ignis starts at Rs 4.59 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi and all models, be it petrol or diesel get the kit as standard.

Mahindra KUV

KUV

Mahindra too has been focusing on crash safety. The KUV became the first car to successfully be crash tested in India as per the upcoming crash norms. ABS and EBD are offered as standard on the KUV range and all the plus variants get dual airbags. So the K2+ is the cheapest KUV to get the trio. It is priced at Rs 4.92 lakhs.

Tata Tiago

tiago 17

The Tiago is the cheapest Tata to offer the trio. The Tiago is a well loaded hatch and a good one overall. The top of the line is the variant with the features and is priced at Rs 4.99 lakhs.

Maruti Swift

swift 10

The Swift is next in line on this list. Maruti doesn’t offer the kit as standard across the range, however they do offer an optional safety kit on all their models, even the base trim that offers the trio. Thus, the Swift Lxi Optional (O) is the cheapest Swift to get the kit and is priced at Rs 5.01 lakhs

Ford Figo

figo1

Ford has been known to offer a lot of safety features on their range of cars on sale in the country. The Figo was the only hatchback on sale when it was introduced to get 6-airbags as well as ESP (on the automatic trim). It is hence no surprise that the Figo makes it to this list. All variants from the Ambiente (O) onwards get the safety kit as standard. Pricing starts at Rs 5.07 lakhs.
