VWs highly anticipated SUV, the Tiguan is all set to launch in the Indian market soon and details have been leaked ahead of the launch. Here is what we do know about the vehicle:

The Tiguan will be only offered with a single diesel engine only, the 2.0 liter TDi unit. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed DSG. The output from the engine is the 147 Bhp state of tune, and not the 184 Bhp one which is also available in the global market. It is based on the MQB platform, which underpins a lot of other vehicles. The vehicle will only be offered as a 5 seater and will come in two variants.
The base trim, known as the Comfortline and the top end trim, the Highline will be on offer. The car will be offered with LED headlamps, LED DRLs and LED tail lamps. While the lower trim level will be offered with 17″ alloys, the higher end one will get 18″ ones. For all the sunroof lovers, the top end will get a panoramic sunroof. The car will come with 3-zone climate control, electrically adjustable front seats with memory for the driver, touch screen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. In terms of driving options, the car will get paddle shifters, driving modes and 4-Motion (their 4-wheeldrive system). On the safety front, the car is offered with rear parking camera, sensors, front as well as side airbags, rain sensing wipers, tyre pressure monitoring system and auto dimming mirrors.
Production of the vehicle has already begun at the company’s group plant in Aurangabad, in Maharashtra. The vehicle has already been spotted at dealerships and we expect the launch to take place soon.
When launched, hte Tiguan will take on the Tucson, the Honda CR-V and the soon to be launched Nissan X-Trail.
