French car manufacturer Citroën entered the Indian market a few years ago, and they currently offer four models, including the eC3 electric hatchback. The eC3 is the only electric SUV in Citroën’s India lineup, and it is offered with Live and Feel trims only. Citroën did not offer a proper top-end variant for this hatchback. However, according to reports, Citroën has silently launched a new top-end Shine variant for the eC3. The price for the Shine variant starts at Rs 13.19 lakh, ex-showroom, and bookings are open at Citroën’s dealerships across the country.
One of the complaints people have with Citroën is that they do not offer convenience features with their cars. Their flagship model, the C5 Aircross, is probably the only car in the lineup that comes with modern and premium-looking interiors and features. All other models come with a basic-looking cabin and almost the same design. With the eC3, people had the same complaint as it was missing out on a lot of features.
The Shine variant of the eC3 now comes with minor changes on the outside and also more features. This variant now includes 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, front and rear faux skid plates for a muscular look, rear defogger, rear windscreen wiper and wash, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a rear parking camera for a better parking experience. These features were previously missing from the eC3, and with the new variant, Citroën has attempted to address some of the complaints that customers had.
Other than these newly added features, everything else about the Citroën eC3 remains the same. The eC3 has a 29.2 kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted electric motor, which produces 57 hp and 143 Nm of peak torque. The eC3 can accelerate from 0-60 kph in 6.8 seconds and achieve a top speed of 107 kph. The eC3 has an ARAI-claimed range of 320 km and offers two charging options. The first is a DC fast charger that can charge the battery pack from 10-80% in 57 minutes, and the second is a 3.3 kW onboard AC charger that is also capable of CCS2 fast charging. The eC3 can also be charged at home and requires 10.5 hours to fully charge from 10-100%.
The price for the base variant or Live variant of the eC3 is Rs 11.61 lakh, ex-showroom. The newly introduced Shine variant offers several options like Shine Vine Pack, Shine Dual-tone, and Shine Dual-tone Vibe Pack. Depending on the version, the price of the electric hatchback increases. The price of the Shine variant starts at Rs 13.19 lakh, ex-showroom, and goes up to Rs 13.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Citroën is currently working on a sedan based on the same platform as the C3, and the test mules have been spotted several times on the road. Citroën will also be launching the automatic transmission with the C3 Aircross SUV towards the end of this month.
