Accidents happen on roads every day. While most of these accidents occur because of someone’s carelessness, a portion of them occur when the driver is under the influence of alcohol or some other drug. One such incident recently happened in Kerala. A couple traveling in a Nexon EV crashed into several cars, causing chaos in the city and refusing to stop when cops asked them to. The car was later brought to a stop after the road was blocked using cranes. According to the police it was found that the couple traveling in the Nexon EV had used marijuana and had no control over the vehicle.
The video has been shared by Media One on their YouTube channel. According to reports, the incident took place in Kottayam district of Kerala. The couple was traveling through MC road, causing chaos on MC Road’s Mariyapalli to Chingavanam section. On this stretch, the couple crashed the Nexon EV into several vehicles and continued driving without stopping or checking on other road users. Locals of the region spotted this rashly driven vehicle and reported it to the police.
The police acted on the information received and started following the vehicle. However, the driver was not willing to stop or slow down at any point. The cops then called a crane service in the region and asked them to block the road for this vehicle. Once the Nexon EV driver saw the crane on the road, he stopped the car, and then police caught the occupants. It was then that the cops realized that the couple inside the car had used marijuana and did not have control of the vehicle.
Once the car was stopped, locals gathered around the vehicle, and cops opened the door too. The driver refused to get out and was seen arguing with the cops. Cops finally had to pull him out of the vehicle. While this was happening, his wife, who was also in the same vehicle, was once again arguing with the cops and asking what was happening and why they were taking her husband.
The wife was also asked to get out of the vehicle. As the police present at the spot were all men, they couldn’t forcefully remove her from the car. They probably waited for a woman police officer to arrive at the spot and then took the woman out of the vehicle. The police even found 5 grams of marijuana in the vehicle. The couple was then taken to Chingavanam police station. Reports suggest that cops even found gold jewelry in the car. The couple has been arrested before in relation to similar cases. This time a case has been registered against the couple for reckless driving and also the usage of an illegal drug.
