Mahindra Automotive, the country’s largest SUV maker, has been tirelessly working on the development of the Thar five-door. This new model, which will be the extended version of the outgoing three-door Thar, could be called Armada as the company has recently trademarked this name. Over these last few months, we have seen a number of test mules of this SUV being tested, and based on all the information gathered so far, one of the talented digital artists of our country has created a rendering of what the new Mahindra Thar five-door (Armada) could look like.
The rendering of the new Mahindra Thar five-door has been shared on YouTube by SRK Designs on their channel. Over the last few years, SRK Designs has shared a number of renderings of popular Indian cars, and this particular one shows exactly how the production version of the Thar five-door or Armada could look. It can be noted that the artist has combined all the details noted from all the test mules spotted over the last few months.
2024 Mahindra Thar five-door: Exterior design details
From the rendering, we can note that the new five-door model of the Thar will get a new front grille design, which will help differentiate it from the three-door model. This time around, the company has given the grille six vertical hollow slats with a separation in the middle that divides the grille into two halves. The top part is bigger than the bottom part. Following this, it can be noted that the new car will also get LED headlights with circular LED DRLs. Apart from this, the rest of the front fascia looks like the outgoing Thar three-door.
Moving on to the side profile, it can be noted that the car will get a brand-new set of 19-inch five-spoke diamond-cut alloy wheels. Additionally, other videos of the test mule of this SUV have revealed that the new roof of the Thar five-door will be made of metal. Apart from this, the main difference on the side profile is the addition of the two new doors in the middle, which will get vertically mounted door handles. As for the rear, the car will get a spare tire mounted on the rear door; it will get new LED taillights. Apart from this, not much has been changed on the rear end of the Thar.
2024 Mahindra Thar five-door: Interior design details
For the five-door Thar, Mahindra has updated the interior. It will now get a new dual-tone color scheme, and the main highlight will be a brand-new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. It will also get new auxiliary buttons and an automatic climate control system. The car will also get the same multifunction steering wheel as seen on the Mahindra Scorpio-N and XUV700. Additionally, it will also get new roof-mounted speakers and a single-pane electric sunroof amongst other new features. The car will also get a new digital instrument gauge cluster as well.
2024 Mahindra Thar five-door: Powertrain options and pricing
The upcoming new Mahindra Thar 5-door will most likely share its 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engine options with the Thar 3-door 4X4. It will most likely also get the same, with both 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choices. Given its larger size and significant changes, the new Mahindra Thar 5-door will be priced more than the 3-door Thar, making it a more premium offering over the other 4×4 offerings in this segment, including Maruti Suzuki Jimny and upcoming Force Gurkha 5-door.
