Buying base-model cars and converting them to a top model with personalized touches has become quite common. Aftermarket car modification shops can modify base models to look exactly like top-end models using OEM parts.
We have covered many such examples in the past. Today we are going to talk about a Mahindra Scorpio N Z2, the base variant of the popular 7-seater SUV, which has been converted to look like the Z8 (top-end trim).
The conversion work has been done by VIG Auto Accessories, who uploaded this on YouTube. The video shows everything that has been replaced in the car. One important point to note is that the sunroof has not been added to the vehicle. Even though aftermarket sunroofs are easily available, their installation process can harm the car’s overall structure. Let’s dive into the details of the video.
The video begins by showing the before version of the SUV, which is a completely stock white-colored Mahindra Scorpio N Z2. Key things to note about the before version are: black-colored ORVMs and door handles; steel rims; no fog lamps; no skid plates; no spoiler; halogen headlamps; and a completely gloss black grille. The interior is totally made of plastic in the theme of black and tan.
After talking about the before version, the video shifts to the after version. The changes in SUVs are significant, and the car is completely transformed. Changes in the front include the addition of a top-model grille with chrome accents, OEM fog lamps with DRLs, and a silver skid plate. The headlights, earlier halogen, are replaced with top model pieces with sequential turn indicators.
In the side profile, 18-inch alloy wheels are added, giving the SUV a new life. The ORVMs and door handles are now body colored; both are replaced with top model pieces and not painted. Other small yet impactful changes in the side profile are the addition of a silver insert on the body cladding and roof rails.
Spoiler, skid plate, and chrome garnish on the rear bumper are the only changes made to the rear profile of the SUV. Stepping inside, the interior is unrecognizable. The interior of the car comes with a large list of upgrades. Overall, it feels way more premium and comes loaded with features.
Changes in the interior are:
• Leather-wrapped soft touch door pads, finished in champagne gold color.
• Champagne-colored seat covers are perforated.
• The rear AC vent panel was changed to gloss black.
• Electrically foldable and adjustable ORVMs are added.
• Soft-touch leather wrapping on the dashboard adds a premium touch.
• A flat-bottom muscular steering wheel with a champagne gold-wrapped horn pad and steering-mounted controls are added.
• The center console is painted gloss black with soft touch leather on leg pads.
• The speaker system has been upgraded.
• Gloss black touches at multiple places.
While the video does not mention the total cost of the project, the end result is a luxurious and feature-rich SUV that closely resembles the top-end model.
