Toyota India is set to introduce a new variant for its popular MPV, the Innova Hycross. The new variant, named GX (O), will be positioned as the top-spec option for the petrol-only powertrain. Toyota has not disclosed any information about the pricing yet, but it will be available at a premium over the base GX variant. There are no confirmations regarding the launch date, but reports suggest that it will hit the market in the first week of April.

The GX (O) variant of the Innova Hycross brings several upgrades over the GX trim. It boasts a larger 10.1-inch infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, front parking sensors, a 360-degree surround camera, rear sunshade, rear defogger, dual-tone interior with a soft-touch dashboard, and LED fog lamps. Additionally, customers will have the choice between seven- and eight-seater configurations, giving them the option to choose according to their needs.
Currently, Innova Hycross is available in five variants:
GX: Available in 7 and 8-seater options priced at Rs. 19.77 lakhs and Rs. 19.82 lakhs, respectively. This variant is offered in petrol automatic only. VX: Offered in both 7 and 8-seater options priced at Rs. 25.72 lakhs and Rs. 25.77 lakhs. Hybrid petrol powertrain option starts from this trim. VX(O): Both 7 and 8-seater options are available in this variant as well. The 7-seater version is priced at Rs. 27.69 lakhs and the 8-seater comes with a premium of Rs. 5000. Only hybrid powertrain option is offered.
ZX: Priced at Rs. 30.04 lakhs, this variant comes with a 7-seater and hybrid powertrain option only. ZX(O): Similar to ZX, this variant also comes is 7-seater and hybrid powertrain option only. It is priced at Rs. 64,000 more than the ZX. The GX(O) will be the sixth variant in the Hycross lineup.
Under the hood, the Innova Hycross offers two engine options: a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 2.0-liter hybrid powertrain. However, the upcoming GX (O) variant will exclusively feature the 2.0-liter NA petrol engine paired with a CVT gearbox.
This powertrain configuration delivers 172bhp and 205Nm of torque. On the other hand, the hybrid powertrain produces 183 Bhp and 199 Nm of torque. The main highlight of the hybrid powertrain is its mileage. The hybrid version has a mileage of 23.24 kmpl while the petrol one has a mileage of 16.13 kmpl.
Innova Hycross does not lack in terms of safety as well. Standard safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Hill Assist Control (HAC), and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
The Innova Hycross also boasts the Toyota Safety Sense suite, a package of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) that includes features like a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Lane Keep Assist, and Automatic High Beam. Innova Hycross scored a 5 star safety rating in the crash test.
In the Indian market, the Innova Hycross rivals cars such as the Maruti Suzuki Invicto, Mahindra XUV 700 & Scorpio-N, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar, Toyota Innova Crysta, and Tata Safari. The hybrid version of the Toyota Innova Hycross could soon get a 5.5 lakh rupee price cut.
