MG Motors, the British car brand recently launched a special edition variant for their entire lineup in India which includes Comet, Astor, ZS EV, Hector and the Gloster. These special edition variants are launched as the brand is celebration their centenary year in India. The brand has completed 100 years worldwide and launched 100-year editions. Let’s discuss the exterior changes first. The most striking change is the car’s paint color. All the 100 year edition models are finished in a beautiful shade which the brand calls as Evergreen. In addition to this, the car features multiple dark elements and a Starry Black roof. Similar to the MG Hector Blackstorm Edition, the Hector 100 Year Edition features black chrome grille and multiple gloss black elements on the exterior.
The alloy wheels are finished in gloss black with red brake calipers, adding to the visual appeal. The rear profile of the car features an exclusive 100 year badge. The interiors of the car are finished in all-black with a beige roof. In the cabin, the front headrests are embroidered with ‘100 Year Edition’ logo.
Even the head unit of this edition features an Evergreen theme along with customizable widget colors. Being based on the second top variant, the car comes loaded with features such as 14-inch infotainment system, steering mounted controls, cruise control, auto AC, 6 way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 4 way electrically adjustable co-driver seat, LED lighting setup, panoramic sunroof, adjustable second row of seats, keyless entry with push button start, electric tailgate, Infinity sound system, auto headlamps, digital instrument cluster, rain sensing wipers electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs. Overall, the interior of the car is super luxurious and premium.
In terms of safety features, the Hector offers six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) features like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and auto emergency braking.
The pricing for this special edition starts from Rs. 21.19 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 22.49 lakhs. This edition is based on the second top variant of MG Hector which is the Sharp Pro. Regarding the engine specifications, the MG Hector is available with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 2-litre diesel engine.
The petrol engine delivers a power output of 143 BHP and a torque of 250 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel engine produces 170 BHP and 350 Nm. The petrol engine is paired with a CVT transmission and the diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed manual. The option for a diesel automatic and a petrol manual is not available.
In the Indian market, Hector competes with Tata Harrier, 5-seater variants of the Mahindra XUV700, and higher-spec variants of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The Hector was the first vehicle MG Motor launched, and the SUV continues to be one of the top-selling models in the Sino-British automaker. Soon, MG Motor will launch a range of new electric vehicles in the Indian market.
