Tata Motors is gearing up to the launch of its new hatchback, the Altroz Racer, in India. Prior to this, the spotting of this new model has become more frequent. Recently, a new test mule of the Tata Altroz Racer was spotted testing completely undisguised in the country. This new test vehicle gives us a clear idea of what this new and more sporty iteration of the Altroz will look like on public roads.

These pictures of the Tata Altroz Racer being tested on public roads have come courtesy of Zigwheels. From the first picture, we can note that the overall exterior design remains the same as the current model. However, it was seen finished in a more sporty-looking orange color.
Apart from the color, it was seen with two white stripes on the bonnet. These stripes continue onto the roof of this car as well. What can also be noticed was that the roof and bonnet of this car were finished in high-gloss black. What was also noticed on this particular test vehicle were its alloy wheels.
Instead of wearing a different set of alloy wheels, it was seen with the same directional 8-spoke 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels seen on the standard car. Most likely, these were test wheels and it will come with a different and more sporty-looking design with the production car.
Tata Altroz Racer interior
The interior pictures of this particular test mule have not been shared online. However, we do know that the Tata Altroz Racer will get a more sporty yet premium-looking interior. It will get an all-black theme with orange accents all around.
Tata Altroz Racer’s list of features include orange and white stripes on the black leather seats, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument gauge cluster. Apart from these, there will be orange accents surrounding the AC vents.
It will most likely also be offered with a head-up display and ventilated seats as well. Lastly, it will now also get orange ambient lighting and a set of orange lights in the footwell area.
Tata Altroz Racer Powertrain competition
Coming to the main highlight of the Altroz Racer, it is its 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. This motor has been borrowed from its larger sibling, the Nexon sub-compact SUV. In the Altroz Racer, it will be making around 118 nhp and 172 Nm of torque.
Tata Motors will be offering this new model with a manual gearbox. It could most likely also come mated to an automatic transmission option as well. Altroz Racer is also expected to come equipped with a sports-oriented suspension setup and re-tuned steering dynamics for better handling. An upgraded braking setup is also expected.
Once launched, this new model will be directly competing with the Hyundai i20 N-Line. Reportedly, it will be making its official debut next month in June. As per the reports, it could be priced in the range of Rs 11 to Rs 14 lakh in the country.
