How to keep your car cool in Indian summers?

Now we understand that this particular way to beat the heat might not be everyone’s cup of tea. So in order to help our readers, we bring to you a few different ways in which you can cool down your car with the help of different things and techniques. So without any further ado, here are those ways.

Reflective and Insulating Materials

One effective way to keep your car cool is by using aluminum foil or specialized reflective sunshades. These materials can be placed on windows, windshields, and also on the roof to reflect sunlight away from the car. This can significantly reduce the amount of heat that enters the vehicle.

Painting and Coatings

Another method to reduce heat absorption is by painting the car’s roof white or applying reflective paint. Light-colored surfaces, such as white, reflect more sunlight compared to dark colors, which absorb more heat.

This can be done professionally at a body shop for a durable finish. If not, DIY enthusiasts can use reflective spray paints available in hardware stores for a more hands-on approach.

UV Blocking Solutions

Installing UV-blocking window tints is an effective way to mitigate the heat. Now we understand that window tints can get you fines. However, if the visibility is kept at 50 percent at the front and 70 percent at the rear, they may pass scrutiny.

The benefit of window tints is that they block a significant portion of the sun’s ultraviolet rays and some of the infrared radiation. These are major contributors to heat build-up inside the car.

UV-blocking tints not only keep the car cooler but also protect the interior from UV damage. They can increase the lifespan of your car’s upholstery and dashboard.

Additional Measures

Using a high-quality car cover when the vehicle is parked can protect it from direct sunlight. This, in turn, reduces the overall heat build-up. Some covers come with reflective surfaces to enhance this effect.

Additionally, installing ventilated seat covers can make the car interior more comfortable. High-end cars come with ventilated seats from the factory, and they provide a very great level of comfort.

Parking Strategies

Car drivers can also optimize their parking choices and can significantly affect the car’s temperature. Parking in shaded areas, such as under trees or in covered parking lots, can greatly reduce the amount of direct sunlight the car receives, thus keeping it cooler.
