Hyundai Verna spied ahead of launch

Hyundai is all set to launch its popular sedan, the Verna on the 22nd of August. Ahead of the launch, dealers have started receiving the vehicles, however with protective sheets to prevent people from seeing what the car actually looks like. A reader Vaibhav sent us these images of an all-new Verna being removed from a truck.

So what do we know about the car?

Everything, except the pricing, which we will know on the 22nd. There will be a total of two engines on offer, both 1.6. The 1.6 petrol makes 122 Bhp and 155 Nm while the 1.6 diesel makes 126 Bhp and 260 Nm. Both the engine are mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission now. This will replace the 4-speed automatic transmission which was previously on offer.

There are a few segment first features that you will see on the Verna, that includes seat ventilation, connected car technology, sun blinds at the back and it will also get a 7″ touch screen system with Apple Car play, Android Auto and Mirror link.

There will be a total of 12 variant that will be on offer, 6 petrol and 6 diesel. Out of this, there will be 4 manual and 2 automatics.

Petrol variants: E, EX (MT/AT), SX, SX(O) (MT/AT). 

Diesel variants: E,EX (MT/AT), SX(MT/AT), SX(O). While the diesel has 2 automatic variants as well, the top of the line will not be offered with an automatic transmission.

Hyundai will offer dual airbags and ABS as standard across the range, with the top of the line variant also getting side and curtain airbags. Other equipment also includes rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, 16″ alloys, smart key with key-less go, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, LED tail lamps and the top of the line model will also get a sunroof, something that the Verna never had.

4 new colours will be on offer in the new Verna,  red, orange, white and brown.
