Modified Jeep Compass SUVs are finally making appearances in India. This example has a body kit from Car Chic India. As the images indicate, the body kit consists of three main items, a bumper insert up front, a bumper insert at the rear and side steps.

Jeep sells the Compass in India with two engine options – 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol and 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel. The petrol motor makes 160 Bhp-250 Nm and is offered with 2 gearbox options 1. a 6 speed manual and 2. a 7 speed twin clutch automatic.
The diesel motor makes 170 Bhp-350 Nm, and is sold with a single 6 speed manual gearbox. Both front wheel drive and all-wheel drive layouts are offered on the diesel engined models while the petrol model is a front wheel-drive only variant.
Prices of the Compass start from 15.19 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi, going all the way up to Rs. 21.37 lakh rupees. Jeep builds the SUV at Ranjangaon, with nearly 70 % localization. The American automaker – owned by Fiat-Chrysler – also exports the Compass to right-hand drive markets around the world.
In terms of pricing, the Compass competes with a range of SUVs and crossovers sold in India – from the Hyundai Creta, the Tata Hexa and Mahindra XUV500 at the lower end, and the Hyundai Tucson at the higher end. Jeep India will launch a new diesel-automatic variant of the Compass early next year.
The American SUV major is also said to have plans of launching a new, sub-Compass SUV sometime in 2019. The sub-Compass SUV – likely to be an Indianized version of the Renegade – will challenge the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster in terms of price and positioning.
