Mahindra has just launched the facelifted version of the Scorpio SUV in India. Prices start from 9.97 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi, going all the way up to 16.01 lakhs. Apart from giving the SUV cosmetic and mechanical changes, Mahindra has also tweaked the variant line up of the 2018 Scorpio. The facelifted Scorpio is now available in 6 trims – S3 (75 Bhp), S5, S7 (120 bhp), S7 (140 bhp), S11 (140 bhp) & S11 (140 bhp with 4WD).
The S3 variant is the base model, and uses the 2.5 liter M2DICR turbo diesel engine with 75 Bhp-200 Nm on tap. The S5 and S7 variants are available with the 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine in 120 Bhp-280 Nm state of tune. Both the above engines get 5 speed manual transmissions driving the rear wheels. The S7, S11 and S11 4WD trims get the 2.2 liter mHawk turbo diesel engine in 140 Bhp-320 Nm state of tune.
The more powerful diesel engine also gets a 6 speed manual gearbox. An automatic gearbox is still missing from the Scorpio line-up. The brake booster is now larger to handle the extra power. In terms of cosmetic changes, the 2018 Scorpio gets revised front and rear end designs. The profile remains more or less similar to the older version save for the new alloy wheel design.
The interiors get new seat fabric, a leather clad steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system with built-in reverse parking display, Mahindra’s BlueSense apps and navigation features. In terms of features, the top-end S11 variant of the 2018 Scorpio gets twin airbags, ABS, cruise control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, automatic headlamps and wipers and automatic climate control.
All variants of the SUV get a mild-hybrid system with brake energy regeneration and an idle-stop mechanism. The mild-hybrid system kicks in during acceleration, helping to cut down fuel consumption and tail-pipe emissions. The 2018 Scorpio is available in seven, eight- and nine-seater configurations. Bookings for the new SUV are open across all Mahindra dealerships in India, and deliveries will begin shortly.
