Prices of the latest Bajaj Pulsar 150 have been revealed. The facelifted model is priced at Rs. 76,000 ex-showroom Mumbai, which translates into an on-road price of Rs. 91,147. The new price means that the Pulsar 150 is pricier than the older model by about Rs. 2,300. The higher asking price is for better specifications and the various other changes the new Pulsar 150 comes with.
The major changes on the new model include 37mm front forks, split seats, disc brakes on both wheels, new footpeg assemblies, new grabrails, new brake pedal and gear shifter, matte finish for the alloy wheels and a fatter rear tyre. The engine is expected to be unchanged although a slight bump up in power and torque can’t be ruled out. The Pulsar 150 will continue using a 5 speed manual gearbox. An electric starter will be standard.
The 149cc four stroke engine of the outgoing model made 14 Bhp and 13.4 Nm, and we’ll have to wait and watch if the new model’s engine gets any significant power and torque boost. The motor will continue to be carbureted. Bajaj is not likely to offer ABS even as an option on the latest Pulsar 150, and the two wheeler giant seems to be waiting for April 2019 to add this life-saving safety feature to the entry-level Pulsar.
Single channel ABS will become mandatory on all 125cc+ motorcycles launched in India after April 1st, 2018. This is also why the updated Pulsar is expected to be slipped in before April. Bajaj will however have no option but to offer ABS on the Pulsar 150 sold in India by April 2019. Motorcycles already on sale have time until the next April to get ABS. But it’s disappointing that Bajaj is not a first mover on this front. Other motorcycle makers such as Honda and Suzuki have already offered ABS on their 150cc and 160cc offerings sold here.
