Honda’s sub 4-meter compact sedan, the Amaze, will get a full model replacement soon. Honda revealed the car at the 2018 Auto Expo and the launch is expected to happen in May. Honda dealers are expected to open the bookings for the all-new Amaze from 6th April 2018.

The new Honda Amaze looks nothing like the current model. It gets an all-new body which is inspired by the flagship Accord and the Civic design. It gets a new grille, headlamp and a whole new silhouette too. The boxy design of the Amaze has already caught a lot of attention at the Expo and the vehicle’s design has received mixed reactions from the public. The curved roofline at the rear makes the vehicle quite interesting in the segment while the taller height will make sure that there is more headroom in the vehicle.

The new Amaze has also shed the busy creases on the doors and gets a straight, deep shoulder line. It also gets an integrated spoiler in the boot lid and split tail lamps. The Amaze looks quite premium and will increase the heat in the segment that already sees competition from the Maruti Dzire and Hyundai Xcent. The new Amaze is expected to be slightly bigger in dimensions that will make sure that there is ample space on the inside. The new Amaze will remain under 4-meter to gain on the tax benefits.

Honda will continue to use the current engine options with the new Amaze. There will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 87 Bhp and 110 Nm. There is a 1.5-litre diesel engine too that generates a maximum power of 98.6 Bhp and peak torque of 200 Nm. Both the engine specifications are same as the current engine output. However, a major addition will be the CVT automatic transmission that will be offered with the diesel version of the vehicle. The CVT version will also be available with the petrol variant.

This will be the first time when a diesel car in this segment will offer a CVT automatic transmission. With the rising popularity of automatics, the Amaze automatic is expected to get a lot of customers.

Honda will update the interiors with the new infotainment system and new seats too. The price is expected to be around the Rs. 5.5 lakh mark. Honda will also launch the new CR-V and the new Civic in the Indian market before March 2019.
