Variant details of the all-new, 2018 Honda Amaze have now been revealed. The compact sedan will be launched on the 16th of May, 2018, as a new competitor to cars like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Hyundai Xcent and the Ford Figo Aspire. The car will be launched in four main trims – E, S, V and VX – with two engine and two gearbox options. Customers among the first 20,000 to have booked the all-new Amaze will get a special, introductory price. This also means that Honda is likely to hike prices later.
The two engine options of the all-new Amaze are a 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol motor with 87 Bhp and 110 Nm, and a 1.5-litre i-DTEC turbocharged diesel motor with 98.6 Bhp and 200 Nm. Both engines will get manual gearboxes as standard, and CVT automatic gearboxes as options. The diesel CVT variants will get a detuned engine with 80 Bhp-160 Nm outputs. The all-new Amaze gets a full redesign and is now based on a new platform called 2UA. The car offers a bunch of class-leading features, which Honda hopes will drive customers to dealerships.
Talking about the key features of each variant, the E trim will be the base variant and will offer twin airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, air conditioning, power steering, a chrome front grille, dual-tone interiors, a piano black console and a driver-side auto down window. The S variant will add the following features – body coloured door handles, electrically adjustable wing mirrors with fold function, a shark fin antenna, keyless entry, tilt steering with audio controls, a height adjustable driver seat, adjustable front seat headrests, rear arm rest with cup holders and a 2-DIN stereo with 4 speakers and Bluetooth connectivity.
The V variant will add LED positioning lamps, 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lamps, engine start-stop button, automatic climate control and electric boot release. The V trim will also be available with the optional, CVT automatic gearboxes on both petrol and diesel engines. A paddle shifter will be standard with the CVT automatic gearbox. The top-end VX variant will offer a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, voice recognition and cruise control.
