The Honda Amaze has shed its old design completely. The all-new Amaze gets a new sharp boxy line body design with coupe-inspired styling. It now looks similar to the all-new Honda Civic, that will be launched in India at a later date. The all-new Amaze has also become larger in size than the outgoing version but stays under the 4-meter mark to enjoy tax benefits.
The all-new Amaze gets LED DRL lamps that add a unique character to the vehicle. The new design also makes it well-proportioned, which is a rarity in the segment. The top-end version also gets 15-inch alloy wheels that give it an aggressive stance. It is available in five different colours, with the Radiant Red being the new colour option.
On the inside, the new Amaze now gets more space with a 65mm longer wheelbase. The rear seat now gets better legroom and knee-room. Honda has also added the new DigiPad 2.0 infotainment system in the vehicle. The touch-screen system supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also gets MirrorLink functionality that mirrors the phone screen on the infotainment system. The new Amaze also comes with a bigger air-conditioning compressor that ensures faster cooling.
The engine options of the new Amaze remain similar to the previous generation. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces a maximum of 89 Bhp and 110 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is available in two states of tune depending on the transmission. The manual diesel engine produces a maximum of 98.6 Bhp and 200 Nm. Honda has also introduced the segment-first diesel CVT option with the all-new Amaze. However, the engine produces 80 Bhp and 160 Nm with the CVT transmission. The CVT automatic with the segment-first paddle shifters is also available with the petrol engine, but the engine output remains the same.
Safety-wise, the all-new Amaze is loaded with front airbags, ABS with EVD and Brake Assist across all the variants as standard. Honda has announced that the first 20,000 units of the Amaze will get an introductory price tag. It also offers a class-leading 3-year unlimited kilometre warranty that can be extended to the 4th and 5th years with unlimited kilometres. Honda is also offering two packages – Chrome and Utility that add a number of accessories to the sedan.
The all-new Amaze will take on the highly popular Maruti Dzire and the Hyundai Xcent in the segment. The Dzire has a starting price of Rs. 5.56 lakhs and goes up to Rs. 9.43 lakhs. The Hyundai Xcent is priced between Rs. 5.56 lakhs and Rs. 8.54 lakhs (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
