From time to time, Royal Enfield has launched many limited edition models in the Indian and foreign markets. the latest limited edition bike from the Indian manufacturer is the Royal Enfield Pegasus Classic 500. It is a tribute to a Flying Flea motorcycle used by the British paratroopers during the World War II. The Flying Flea motorcycle was extremely lightweight and British army used parachutes to drop them in strategic locations and gain advantage over rivals.

Royal Enfield will only produce 1,000 units of the Pegasus Classic 500 in the world and India will get 250 units. Rest will go to the foreign markets including Britain, Austrailia and USA. The Pegasus is expected to be priced at around Rs. 4.5 lakhs in the UK market and the bookings will open from July. It is not known if India will get the limited edition Classic 500 before the UK launch or after it.

The Royal Enfield Pegasus Classic 500 will get two colour options that are inspired by the original colour of the Flying Flea. There will be a Service Brown and Olive Dab Green on the offer. However, the civilians in India are not allowed to have vehicles in military green colour and it is still unclear if Royal Enfield will offer an alternative colour for the domestic market.

Each of the limited edition bikes will get serial number stencilled on the fuel tank, which will make every bike unique. All the Pegasus edition bikes will get military-style canvas panniers that are inspired by the World War II design, a leather strap with brass buckle across the air filter, blacked out silencers, rims, brown handlebar grips and headlight bezel.

The bikes will not be changed mechanically. The Classic 500 is powered by a 499cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces a maximum of 27.2 Bhp at 5,250 rpm and 41.3 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Every other feature including the chassis, brakes, handlebar remains identical to the regular bikes.
