Mclaren F1
386.7 kmph
The Mclaren F1 is a name that is synonymous with speed. The concept for the car was conceived by Gordon Murray & was then put into production by Mclaren courtesy Ron Dennis. The car was launched in 1992. The car had a 6 liter V12 producing a massive 618 Bhp & 651 Nm. An interesting design element on the F1 was that the driver sat in the center of the car and there was space for a passenger on either side.
Koenigsegg CCR
388 kmph
The Koenigsegg CCR was revealed in 2004 & it became the fastest car in 2005. It was equipped with a 4.7 liter turbocharged V8 making 806 Bhp & 920 Nm.
Bugatti Veyron 16.4
408 kmph
Volkswagen acquired Bugatti in 1998 with the purpose of building a car that can go past the 400 kmph barrier. A lot of technical issues followed and it was only in 2005 that they could finally launch the car. Powering the Veyron is a massive 8.0 liter quad turbocharged W16 engine making a total of 987 Bhp & 1250 Nm.
SSC Ultimate Aero TT
412 kmph
In 2007, Shelby Sports Cars launched the Aero TT which broke the speed record for the fastest car by reaching a top speed of 412 kmph. The prototype was built on a Lamborghini Diablo chassis. Power came from a 6.4 liter twin turbo charged engine making 1287 Bhp & 1508 Nm.
Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
431 kmph
The fact that the Aero TT beat the Veyron did not go down so well with VW. The Veyron Super Sport is the result of that. It is powered by the same 8.0 liter W16 engine on the 16.4, however this one makes a larger 1200 Bhp & 1500 Nm & thus takes the car to 431 kmph.
Hennessy Venom GT
435 kmph
The Venom made its debut in 2011 and is powered by a 7.0 liter V8 making between 725 & 1200 Bhp. The engine is mated to a 6 speed manual box driving the rear wheels. It is the 1200 Bhp version that has the top speed of 435 kmph when tested in 2014.
Though Bugatti has revealed the new Chiron, it is only limited to 420 kmph due to safety reasons, but we are sure that the car is capable of a lot more.
