The Bajaj Pulsar 220, the erstwhile Pulsar flagship, and the KTM RC 200, the faired sibling of the Duke 200, are two popular performance-oriented motorcycles in our bike market. The Pulsar 220 is well-known for its grunty engine, attractive pricing, excellent headlamps, and decent long-distance touring capabilities. The RC 200 is famous for its sharp handling and a rev-happy engine. But which one is likely to win in a tug of war? You can find the results in the video we have below –
As can be seen in the above video, both the motorcycles pretty much struggle to outclass each other in the first round of the tug of war competition. For the next round, the riders exchange the motorcycles. In this round, the Bajaj Pulsar 220 enjoys an upper edge over the KTM right from the start of the competition. Soon, it starts pulling the RC 200 itself. In the next few seconds, the 220 completely pulls the KTM RC 200 towards itself. Hence, the Pulsar 220 is the clear winner of the competition.
The KTM RC 200 is powered by a 199.5-cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that outputs a maximum power of 24.65 Bhp @ 10000 rpm and a peak torque of 19.2 Nm @ 8000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the Bajaj Pulsar 220 is powered by a 220-cc, single-cylinder, carbureted engine that outputs a maximum power of 20.64 Bhp @ 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 18.55 Nm @ 7000 rpm. Hence, the KTM RC 200 is clearly the more powerful of the two motorcycles.
However, in spite of being the more powerful contender, the RC 200 loses this tug of war competition. There are two major reasons for this. Firstly, the 220’s motor is known to be a punchy performer that offers a slightly better low-end torque than the RC200. This helps it to have an edge over the Austrian motorcycle. Also, the P220 is marginally heavier than the RC 200. Without any torque advantage in the low rev-range, it gets tough for the Austrian motorcycle to pull the P220 towards itself. Ultimately, it all boils down to the rider. In the first round, both the motorcycles look evenly matched. In the second round, however, the riders exchange their motorcycles and the 220’s new rider powers the motorcycle to success.
