BMW started the ‘corporate edition’ trend in India when the German luxury car maker offered a stripped-down, cheaper version of the 3-Series 320 d sedan. Taking a leaf out of BMW’s book, Skoda has followed suit with the Superb corporate edition. Priced at Rs. 23.49 lakhs, the cut-price variant of the car is Rs. 2.1 lakhs cheaper than the entry-level Superb Style TSI variant, which sells for Rs. 25.59 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. Other details of the Skoda Superb corporate edition are yet to be revealed. What you can be sure of is that the car is likely to have many feature deletions considering the near 10% price drop.

Bookings for the Superb corporate edition are now open at Skoda dealerships, and deliveries of the car will start from September 2018. Like other variants of the car, the Skoda Superb will be assembled in India at the automaker’s Aurangabad factory through the completely knocked down (CKD) route. The Skoda Superb sold in India comes in five variants: Style TSI MT, Style TSI AT, L&K TSI AT, Style TDI AT and L&T TDI AT. The diesel L&T variant of the car is the range topper, and is priced at Rs. 32.99 lakhs. It’ll be interesting to see which engine Skoda will offer with the Superb. The corporate edition Superb is likely to get the 1.8 TSI-6 MT combination.

The regular variants of the car get the 1.8-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine with 177 Bhp-320 Nm on tap. This engine gets a 6-speed manual gearbox on the base variant, and a 7-speed twin clutch automatic gearbox on two higher variants. The diesel motor on the Superb is the 2-litre TDI motor, with 174 Bhp-350 Nm. The diesel engine comes with a 6-speed twin clutch DSG automatic gearbox as standard. The Superb is knownfor the superb comfort and luxury it offers on the inside. The solidly built Skoda sedan offers German car comfort at a much cheaper price tag. The corporate edition promises to make it a lot more accessible.
