Indian carmaker Mahindra has launched the all-new Marazzo MPV in India at a starting price of Rs 9.99 lakhs, ex-showroom (pan-India). The new Marazzo is a large seven-seater MPV whose name Mahindra claims is from the Basque word for shark. The shark is also the animal that inspired the design of the Mahindra Marazzo. So let’s take a look around the shark-inspired Mahindra Marazzo MPV and see what it has to offer.
Up front, the Mahindra Marazzo’s distinctive identifying feature is the large shark tooth-inspired grille which has been blinged out with chrome. Flanking the grille on either side are the angular headlamps with the top-spec M8 variant, also featuring LED projectors.
The front bumper plays host to a large air dam with fog lamps on either side featuring large chrome surrounds. Also seen is a plastic cladding that runs across the sides of the car.
The sides of the Marazzo have a lot going on with them. First, the wheel arches are flared and play host to new 17-inch alloy wheels in the M8 variant. Other variants of the Marazzo feature either steel or alloy wheels measuring in at 16 inches.

The beltline of the Marazzo is done up in chrome and the MPV features a floating roof design thanks to a slightly blacked-out D-pillar. The doors of the Marazzo feature a distinctive character line that starts at the bottom of the rear door before going across the front door and then angling up and then shooting back across the side of the car through the door handles.

The rear end of the Marazzo features vertically stacked taillights that flank the rear windscreen. A large chrome strip runs under the rear windscreen with the Mahindra badge placed in its centre, right underneath the rear windscreen wiper. The Mahindra and Marazzo badging are also done up in chrome with the variant badge sitting on the right, just above the chrome strip running across the bottom of the tailgate.
Step inside the Marazzo and you’re greeted by the dual tone white and black interior. The dashboard has a layered look to it, with black plastic at the top the air-con vents, piano black plastics, centre console and steering wheel with instrumentation in the middle and a white hard plastic layer at the bottom which hosts the cooled glove box.
The large three-spoke steering features chrome detailing and also hosts the controls for the infotainment setup and the cruise control. Behind the steering wheel sits the analogue dials for the speedo and the tachometers with a multi-information display.
The infotainment system on the Mahindra Marazzo features both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with voice controls, Bluetooth and USB connectivity options. Underneath the infotainment system are the controls for the automatic climate control system.
The front two rows of the Marazzo feature individual captain seats while the rear bench can accommodate 3 individuals. All the seats are upholstered in white fabric for the M2, M4 and M6 variants with the M8 featuring draped in faux leather. The last two rows of seats are cooled with the help of the roof mounted A/C vents.
The Mahindra Marazzo is powered by an all-new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces 121 Bhp and 300 Nm of torque which is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Prices for the Mahindra Marazzo start at Rs 9.99 lakhs for the base M2 variant and go up to Rs 13.90 lakhs for the top-spec M8 model. The Mahindra Marazzo will compete with the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta, Maruti Ertiga and the Renault Lodgy among others in India’s MPV market.
