Mahindra launched the much-awaited Marazzo MPV yesterday at the company’s Nashik plant. As expected, Mahindra has positioned the product cleverly between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova. Even the base Innova Crysta variant is pricier than the top-end variant of the Marazzo. If you are planning to get one, do go through the list below in which we explain the different variants to help you make your decision.
The MPV is powered by a brand new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that’s been developed by Mahindra and AVL Austria. The motor makes 121 Bhp-300 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This is the only engine/gearbox combo available currently. Mileage is pegged at 17.6 kmpl by the company, but real world figures may differ.
M2 variant
Price – Rs. 9.99 lakh
The M2 is the base variant of the Marrazo line-up and hence will run on steel wheels. It gets fabric seat upholstery, power windows for all the passengers, central locking along with a 12V power outlet and USB charging point for rear passenger. The car also features a digital clock and manual HVAC control.
The Marazzo also comes with roof-mounted rear AC vents (standard fitment) with direct or diffuse airflow options, a first for the segment. Wing mirrors are operated manually as the automatic option was chucked out to keep costs in check. As mentioned earlier, there is only one engine option available which is standard on the whole range currently.
M4 variant
Price – Rs. 10.95 lakh
The second variant in the lineup, the M4 too gets steel wheels as in M2 but with wheel caps. Carrying forward the shark-inspired design language, the MPV features a shark fin antenna. Apart from all what is on the M2 variant, other features on the M4 include seat height adjustment for the driver’s seat, USB socket for front row passengers, USB and AUX for rear passengers, rear wiper and washer and an integrated voice messaging system. Electrically adjustable wing mirrors add to convenience of operation.
M6 variant
Price – Rs. 12.4 lakh
Next in line is the M6 variant which gets stylish alloy wheels to flaunt. On the exteriors, the car gets front and rear fog lamps, projector headlamps with follow-me-home feature along with cornering lamps. Additions to the interior include premium fabric upholstery, adjustable lumbar support for front seats, remote keyless entry, illuminated passenger-side vanity mirror and sunglass holder. The centre console comes with a Tambor door (sliding cover). Centre space on the dashboard is taken by a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which features navigation, emergency call feature and personal reminders, among others.
There are also steering-mounted controls for audio and other functions. Rear parking sensors also make an appearance on this variant. One very nifty feature added by Mahindra is the conversation mirror which enables the driver to look at all the passengers without turning back.
M8 variant
Price – Rs 13.9 lakh
The top of the line M8 variant is the real showstopper here. It rides on flashy 17-inch machined alloy wheels and gets LED daytime running lamps to boot. On the inside, the additions include leatherette seating upholstery, dual USB sockets for front and rear passengers, puddle lamps and cooled glovebox with illumination.
The touchscreen infotainment system is equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on this trim. Other additions include cruise control, reverse camera with display, automatic climate control and power folding and adjustable wing mirrors.
All variants of the Mahindra Marazzo MPV receive twin airbags, ABS+EBD, seat belt warning and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard. An automatic gearbox option is expected to be offered in India in future along with a petrol engine on the Marazzo in 2020. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, India.
