South Korean carmaker Hyundai launched the brand-new Santro in India today at a starting price of Rs 3.9 lakhs (ex-showroom). Now, Hyundai has released a new television commercial (TVC) for its new Santro tall-boy hatchback.
The new TVC for the all-new Hyundai Santro is celebratory and shows a family driving their new Santro presumably after taking delivery of the new hatchback. The upbeat background music of the ad kicks off immediately after a coconut is smashed into the ground in front of the new Santro, a ritual done by many families in India, whenever they get a new vehicle.
The TVC then starts showing off the various standout features of the new Santro with the first being the modern take on the tall-boy design that made the original car stand out from the rest of the crowd. Hyundai has combined the tall-boy styling with its new Fluidic Design 2.0 design philosophy to create a car that looks similar to its other smaller hatchbacks but with more of its current design cues like the wide headlamps that sit above the cascade grille.
The TVC then shows the new Hyundai Santro move as the driver uses the new Smart AMT gearbox. The new Santro is the first-ever Hyundai car to feature an AMT gearbox.
The ad then kicks off into a song and dance routine which basically celebrates the joy the new Santro brings to its new owners. It then highlights another feature of the new Santro – its 1.1-litre four-cylinder engine. The Santro’s 1.1-litre petrol engine is rated at 69 PS and 99 Nm of torque and returns a mileage of 20.3 km/l. The new Santro can also run on CNG but loses out on performance when running on natural gas and produces 59 PS and 77 Nm of torque.
The TVC then continues on and starts highlighting the new features found inside the all-new Santro including the rear AC vents, dual-tone interiors and the touchscreen infotainment system that offers smartphone connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with Bluetooth and Mirror Link and the reverse parking camera which uses the infotainment screen as its display.
The new TVC for the Santro ends with a voiceover in Hindi stating that the new Santro has come bearing new age features for you ending with the new hatchback’s tagline ‘India’s favourite family car’.
