The cars in the Indian automobile market will soon become a lot safer in the near future because of the upcoming Bharat New Vehicle Safety Assesment Program (BNVSAP). Vehicles like Mahindra Thar and Mahindra Bolero, which do not comply with the forthcoming rules are all set to get upgraded thoroughly shortly. We have already seen numerous pictures of the all-new upcoming Mahindra Thar testing on the Indian roads. Now, a new report suggests that Mahindra will update the current-generation Bolero to an all-new model soon.
According to LiveMint, Mahindra is working on the all-new version of the Mahindra Bolero, which was once the best-selling UV in the Indian market. The all-new Bolero will meet the upcoming crash test norms and will get powered by the BS-VI engine. The same has been confirmed by Dr Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra and Mahindra.
The Mahindra Bolero was launched in the Indian market in 2000, and since then it has only received a few small updates. To get the tax benefits, Mahindra even launched a sub-4meter version of the Bolero in the Indian market which came with the scooped bumpers. Not much has been said about the upcoming Mahindra Bolero yet, but it is likely to get an all-new platform. It is expected to get the same Gen3 platform that will underpin the upcoming Thar in the Indian market. Currently, the Gen3 platform underpins the Mahindra TUV 300 in the Indian market.
However, the design is not expected to change much. The Mahindra Bolero is the best-selling Mahindra model in the Indian market even with the old design. Mahindra would want to keep the same DNA alive to attract prospective customers to the Bolero. The current-generation Bolero is extremely popular in the Tier-II and Tier-III cities because of its rugged body and hassle-free ownership. The all-new Bolero is expected to offer similar advantages to the buyers.
The boxy design of the Mahindra Bolero will be retained, but a few changes here and there can be expected to make it look fresher in the market. The Mahindra Bolero will also get a new engine, which will be BS-VI compliant. It is also expected to become more powerful than before.
Keeping up with the safety rules, the all-new Bolero will get airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and speed warning. This will also increase the price of the all-new Mahindra Bolero, but all the vehicles in the Indian market will get these mandatory features so that the same effect will be seen on all the manufacturers.
The all-new Mahindra Bolero is expected to be launched in early 2020, but no test mules have been spotted yet. Maybe we will get to see the all-new Bolero’s test mules closer to the launch and will get an idea of what the vehicle will look like before the launch.
