The Tata Nexon is the latest in the wide range of cars and SUVs sold in India to get a Dieseltronic tuning box option. With the tuning box, the Nexon’s power and torque outputs are boosted to 126.5 Bhp and 281 Nm, from the stock outputs of 108 Bhp-260 Nm. The tuning box is a single channel unit, which means that it modifies controls only the injector rail pressure, and not the turbo boost. The tuning box for the Tata Nexon is priced at Rs. 19,999, and you can buy one from Amazon.
The Dieseltronic tuning box if detected by the service center while servicing/repairing the vehicle, could result in the manufacturer’s warranty made void. So, if you do intend to use this device, you need to be prepared to 1. Risk loss of manufacturer warranty or 2. Remove the device every time you drop off your vehicle to the authorised service center for regular service/repairs.
The tuning box that’s fitted on the Nexon comes with multiple modes – E, S, P1 and P2. E mode stands for Economy, where power and torque outputs are limited. S mode stands for Stock, in which the tuning box stops modifying the fuel rail pressure. P1 and P2 refer to Power 1 and Power 2 modes, which increase power and torque outputs. P2 mode offers the maximum boost in power and torque.
A remote that allows the driver to toggle between these modes comes standard with the tuning box.
