The PSA Group, formerly known as the PSA Peugeot Citroen will launch their products in the Indian market soon. The C5 Aircross is expected to be the first car that will be launched by the French manufacturer in the Indian market in the coming time. After the DS7 Crossback SUV, the Citroen C5 Aircross was caught testing in Chennai and here are the first pictures of the SUV by AutoCar India.

Citroen C5 Aircross

The Citroen C5 Aircross will take on the vehicles like Tata Harrier and Jeep Compass in the Indian market. The car is shorter than the Tata Harrier in length and gets a high ground clearance of 230mm. The car is already on sale in the international market and was launched in 2017. It is entirely possible that PSA Group will make slight changes to the SUV before it is formally launched in the Indian market. The C5 Aircross is based on the EMP2 platform that forms the base of many PSA vehicles including the India-bound DS7 Crossback and 3008 hatchback.

Citroen design their vehicles to be very modern and sharp and the C5 Aircross is no different. It gets a sleek front-end with separate housing for the headlamps and the indicators. The headlamps are smartly integrated to the grille of the vehicle that gives it a very modern look. The body-wide grille gets LED Daytime Running Lamps (DRL), which give a unique look to the SUV. Down below, the C5 Aircross gets red highlights on the air dams, which can be seen on the side of the vehicle too.

The vehicle also comes with a thick body mould all around that gives it an extremely rugged look. It rides on various size of wheels, and smallest is the 17-inches, and the largest size of the alloy wheel available with the C5 Aircross is 19-inches. It is not confirmed which exact alloy wheel we will get in India or any other variant details.

The Citroen C5 Aircross also gets a massive list of features including panoramic sunroof, LED headlamps, wireless phone charging, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, emergency assistance and patented hydraulic suspension system that offers superior ride quality. In the international markets, the SUV also gets active radar-based safety features that include automatic emergency braking, active cruise control and frontal crash alert but these features are unlikely to be offered in the Indian version of the vehicle.

In the international markets, Citroen offers the Aircross C5 with quite a few petrol and diesel engine options. However, the manufacturer has already started manufacturing the 1.2-litre petrol engine and the 2.0-litre diesel engine in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The 2.0-litre engine is expected to power the car in the Indian market. The Citroen C5 Aircross is expected to be priced competitively in the Indian market and can be launched by mid-2020.
