While the world awaits the Hexa’s arrival in the market, the company is busy testing the upcoming Hexa. And this time it has made an appearance in a less glamorous base-spec variant — the giveaway being the absence of fog lamps and bumper-mounted LED strips, reports Rushlane.

Powering the vehicle will be a 2.2-liter VariCOR diesel engine that makes 156 PS and 400 Nm of maximum torque. A six-speed manual gearbox (as seen on the Safari Storme VariCOR 400) will be standard while a six-speed AT will be available as an option. Also, it will be the first Tata to come with a Land Rover-like Terrain Response System.

The flagship Tata boasts decent quality interior, rugged looks, and is no short on character. Pricing wasn’t a strong point for Aria but if Tata prices the Hexa right, it can just be the best offering in the segment.

If the base-spec test mule is anything to go by, don’t be surprised if the base version sits in the Safari/Scorpio category.
