Royal Enfield has remained the king in the segment for a long time now. However, last year Jawa made an official comeback to the Indian market and launched the Jawa and the Jawa 42. Jawa branded bikes take on the Royal Enfield models directly. Earlier this year, Jawa started the deliveries of the bike and currently, there are quite a few of them on the roads. Here is a video by Footloose Dev that shows the comparison between both the bikes and also shows a vibration test between the two.
The video shows both the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa 42 side by side. Since both the bikes are in the same colour, the comparison looks quite good and both the bikes provide almost a similar appearance. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is not modified much and both the bikes are parked on the central stand. Visually, both the bikes look similar side by side. However, the Royal Enfield Bullet is slightly longer while the Jawa 42 is slightly wider. The Royal Enfield gets an aftermarket handle.
The rider then starts the vibration test but they do not use any device to measure the intensity of the vibrations. First, the rider takes off on the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and rides it a constant speed of 40 km/h. The video recorded from the helmet-mounted camera of the biker shows the vibrations cropping up and the reflection in the rearview mirrors becoming a bit unstable.
The rider then takes out the Jawa 42 for a spin on the same road. He keeps the speed constant between 50 and 60 km/h and shows the mirror again, which shows a very smooth reflection. The Jawa motorcycles are powered by a heavily modified version of the engine that powers the Mahindra Mojo too. The engine powering the Jawa bikes is much smoother when compared to the Royal Enfield Classic. Even the Royal Enfield Classic 350 owner present at the spot echoes the same thoughts and says that the Jawa bike is much smoother when compared to the Classic 350.
It should be noted that the Royal Enfield Classic is powered by a 346cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 19.8 Bhp at 5,250 rpm and peak torque of 28 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It gets a 5-speed transmission and weighs a massive 194 kg. The Royal Enfield uses the same old-generation engine but the engine has received quite a few updates over the years to keep it modern in the market. The Jawa 42 is powered by 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates a maximum power of 27 Bhp and peak torque of 28 Nm. It is the highly modified version of the engine powering the Mahindra Mojo and incorporates quite a few modern engineering features when compared to the Royal Enfield Classic’s engine.
