Tata Harrier, which was launched earlier this year has already become quite popular in the Indian market. The all-new Tata Harrier has become one of the best-selling cars in the segment and there are quite a few vehicles that have been spotted on the public roads. Here is a video of the Tata Harrier that has reached Pangong Tso, Ladakh.
The video uploaded by Dr Pushpendra Jadon shows the Harrier on the bank of the Pangong Tso. As per the video, the vehicle is showing its capability on the bank but all we can see in the video is the Harrier doing some slides and all in reverse. Truly, it does not show any off-road prowess of the vehicle. Nonetheless, the Harrier seen in the video is the first one to reach the high sky lake located in the upper Himalayan range. The vehicle is registered in Rajasthan and since the road via Rohtang officially opened this weekend, this family must have taken the Srinagar route to reach the Ladakh region. No much information is available on the car’s route though.
It should be noted that Tata Harrier is not a 4X4 vehicle and is only offered in the FWD set-up. The Harrier is not exceptionally capable on the off-roading surfaces but it sure is more capable than other 4X2 SUVs available in the segment. The all-new Tata Harrier gets a 14-function ESP that works wonders on the off-roads. Instead of offering the 4X4 system on the Harrier, Tata has developed the drive mode feature that changes the vehicle behaves on various terrains. The vehicle’s front brakes work independently and the system uses it to apply the brake on the tyre, which is free and allows the power to reach the wheel with traction. This ensures that the vehicle does not gets stuck.
The Tata Harrier gets powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC engine, which is sourced from Fiat. It is the same engine that powers the Jeep Compass but produces a lower power in the Harrier. The four-cylinder engine produces a maximum power of 140 PS and peak torque of 350 Nm. It gets a 6-speed manual transmission as standard but Tata is also working on launching a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Tata Harrier takes on the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass, Nissan Kicks and even the higher variants of the Hyundai Creta. Soon, the car will get a 7-seater version, which was earlier unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. It will be known as Buzzard and will get powered by the same 2.0-litre engine. Tata is also working to launch the all-new premium hatchback, which will be known as the Altroz and will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
