MG Hector, which became one of the most-awaited SUVs in the Indian market was launched earlier this year. However, due to overwhelming demand in a short period of time, MG Motors suspended the bookings for the MG Hector in the Indian market. In fact, all the cars that will be built by MG Motors India in 2019 are sold out and the new bookings will get vehicles in 2020. While MG Motors clears the backlog of orders in the Indian market, a few big changes will happen the vehicle in the meantime. What are these changes? Well, read all about them here.
Will get PRICIER
MG Motors launched the all-new Hector at an incredible price of Rs 12.18 lakh, ex-showroom. This makes the vehicle cheaper than the Tata Harrier and even Mahindra XUV500. However, at the time of the launch, MG Motors announced that this is an introductory price and they they’ll sool increase the price of the vehicle. MG Motors is likely to increase the price of the car when the bookings re-open later this year. How much? Well, that’s not known yet. However, the all-new MG Hector’s base model, which is priced at Rs 12.18 lakh, can cost close to Rs 13 lakh.
BS6 coming: Will become cleaner, more fuel efficient
The Indian market will soon get the more stringent BS6 norms which will make the engine emissions cleaner. With the opening of bookings again, MG is likely to offer only the BS6 version of the SUV in the Indian market. MG currently offers a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine in the Indian market. Both the engine options will be upgraded to meet the BS6 emission compliance.
Extra two seats
MG will launch the 7-seater version of the MG Hector in the Indian market and it will be launched by mid-2020. MG Hector’s rebranded version – Wuling Almaz is already available in the Indonesian market and there is a seven-seater version of the vehicle launched recently too. Soon, the MG Hector will be available will get an extra set of seats. The Hector’s seven-seater version will get the exact same exterior dimensions including the wheelbase. There will be an extra row of seats. The last row seats will come with dedicated air vents and charging socket.
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
The MG Hector gets the largest infotainment system in the segment. The 10.4-inch infotainment is state-of-art and offers a range of features including an embedded eSIM that allows the vehicle to remain connected to the Internet all the time. However, as of now, the Hector does not offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which has become the norm for new cars in the market. However, the infotainment system has the feature but it is yet to get approved from the authorities. Soon, all the MG Hector SUVs, even the ones that are delivered to the customers will get the update that will enable Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
