Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the BS6 compliant Ertiga in the Indian market. This comes a few days after the brand launched the CNG-powered Ertiga in the market. This is the fifth model from the brand to get the BSVI compliant after the Maruti Suzuki Alto, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Maruti Suzuki WagonR. It should be noted that the new BS6 norms will be applicable in the Indian market from 1st April 2020.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga BS6 is priced at Rs 7.54 lakh, which is around Rs 10,000 more expensive than the BS4 version of the vehicle. It should be noted that only the petrol variants of the Ertiga have received the new BS6 compliant updates. Maruti Suzuki will discontinue all the diesel-powered vehicles from its line-up when the BS6 emission norms are implemented in the Indian market.

The all-new Ertiga, which was launched in the Indian market last year has become the best-selling 7-seater MPV in the Indian market. It takes directly on the likes of Mahindra Marazzo in the market. However, on the sales chart, the Ertiga keeps a big lead when compared to the others.

The petrol engine powering the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is the all-new 1.5-litre engine that was developed in-house by the brand. The K15 Smart Hybrid engine produces a maximum power of 103 Bhp and peak torque of 138 Nm. The power and torque figures remain unchanged with the update. Also, this engine option is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic. The engine also gets the Mild Hybrid system that helps in increasing the fuel efficiency and make the vehicle much more frugal. As per the official ARAI figures for the BS4 version, the Ertiga returns a maximum of 19.34 km/l with the manual transmission and 18.69 km/l with the automatic transmission.

The all-new Ertiga is based on the HEARTECT platform and it has grown in size when compared to the outgoing model. The second-generation car gets a modern design with blacked-out C-pillar, which adds a floating-type roof effect. It also features a large front grille with a good amount of chrome on it while the rear gets tall tail lamps.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga offers a dual-tone cabin with a flat-bottom steering wheel. The top-spec variants come with features like the touchscreen infotainment system, faux wooden inserts on the dashboard, height-adjustable driver seat, automatic climate control, 12V charging ports for every row, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, keyless entry, multiple storage spaces and more. The all-new Ertiga also gets standard features like ABS and EBD as standard across the variants.

Soon Maruti Suzuki will launch the XL6, which is a premium crossover based on the Ertiga. It will get a different front-end design and a different cabin design.
