Renault India will launch the Triber compact MPV on the 27th of August, 2019, and ahead of launch, the French automaker has just released a new video of the upcoming vehicle. The new video revals the sheer versatility of the Triber by showcasing the various seating configurations that the 7 seater offers. Also, the video talks about the safety features of the compact MPV, shows off the modern interiors and also touches upon the connectivity and infotainment options that the Triber offers. Based on an extended version of the Renault Kwid’s CMF-A platform, the Triber is likely to be very competitively priced thanks to its sub-4 meter length, which will give it extensive duty benefits.
In terms of pricing, the Renault Triber is likely to sit in the Rs. 5-7 lakh bracket, making it one of the most affordable MPVs sold in India. It’ll be a lot cheaper than the current market favourite – the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Triber will borrow its engine and gearbox from the Kwid 1.0. The engine is a 1 liter-3 cylinder naturally aspirated unit with 72 Bhp-96 Nm. On the Kwid, the same engine has 67 Bhp-91 Nm outputs.
The higher outputs on the Triber is meant to cope with the higher weight of the compact MPV. 5 speed manual and AMT options will be offered. The MPV will be front wheel driven, and gets dual airbags and ABS as standard. Higher trims will also get curtain airbags. Reverse parking sensors will be standard across trims while the top-end trim will get a reverse parking camera as well.
A touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be offered on the top-end trims of the compact MPV. The Triber gets a ground clearance of 182 mm that should be adequate for most if not all road conditions that the compact MPV is likely to encounter in India. The MPV is designed with an outdoorsy vibe, and this explains the versatile seating layout that allows the compact MPV to go from a two seater to a seven seater within minutes. It features two removable seats that make up the third row and Renault has cleverly raised the roofline at the rear to make the last row of passengers comfortable. The Renault Triber can also be converted to a four seater with one side of the middle row being removed to accommodate longer luggage. The Datsun Go Plus is a direct rival to the Renault Triber but is a full generation behind in terms of styling and features. It’s likely to be cheaper than the Triber though.
