Hyundai’s next launch in the Indian market will be in the form of the Grand i10 Nios that is scheduled to happen on the 20th of August. The Nios is a spiced-up version of the Grand i10 with several upgrades and a stylish, redesigned front face. Till date, we have told you about the engine and interior details of the car but now we can tell you that the hatchback will be sold in a total of ten variants. That’s right, and of these ten variants, seven will be powered by a petrol motor while the other three will be diesel-powered.
Bookings for the upcoming hatchback have already begun across Hyundai dealerships and online for a token amount of Rs 11,000. Talking about the deliveries, they are expected to begin by the end of August. Talking about the different variants of the Grand i10 Nios, the petrol variant lineup will start with the Era variant which will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox only being the base variant. Next up will be Magna and Sportz variants. Both of them will get an AMT box option but the Sportz Dual Tone variant will only get a manual box. Same will be the case with the top-end Asta variant as it will only get a manual box, a practice which Hyundai follows with a few other cars too.
Coming to the diesel-powered variants, there will be three variants on offer here. The base variant here will be the Magna variant that will be offered with a manual gearbox only. Next up will be the Sportz variant which will be offered only with the AMT box and no manual transmission will be on offer here. The top-end variant here will be the Asta and as in the case of the petrol variants, here too it will come only with a manual box. Therefore, the Sportz variant will be the only choice for those who are looking for a diesel automatic variant.
Coming to the engines on offer on the Grand i10 Nios, they are expected to be same as found on the current Grand i10 model. Speaking of which, the Grand i10 gets a 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol engine that makes 83 PS of power and 114 Nm of torque. The diesel option is a 1.2-litre U2 CRDi motor that churns out 75 PS of power and 190 Nm of torque. Both the engines get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard while the petrol-powered variants also getting a choice of a 4-speed automatic transmission. However, Hyundai could offer BSVI compliant engines on the Grand i10 Nios, though that is not confirmed as of now. The car will be sold alongside the Grand i10 in the markest but will be positioned slightly higher in terms of pricing.
