Maruti Suzuki launched the Ertiga based XL6 premium MPV yesterday in India. Prices for the XL6 start at Rs 9.72 lakh and go all the way up to Rs. 11.46 lakh for the top-end Alpha AT variant. It is being sold via the premium Nexa dealership of Maruti and is being pitched as an affordable alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta. Maruti Suzuki is offering the XL6 in four variants across two trim levels. They are – Zeta MT, Alpha MT, Zeta AT and the range-topping Alpha AT. If you have been interested in the XL6 for some time now, here is a video by Arun Panwar which shows the car inside out.
As seen in the video, the XL6 looks quite aggressive and has a more crossover-like design when compared to the Ertiga. It is also slightly larger than the Ertiga, though the wheelbase and boot space remain the same. On the outside, it comes with HID headlamps with LED DRLs underlining them. The grille is also a new unit with a chrome bar running in between. Coupled with the new bumper and satin silver skid plate, the front end of the car has a bold look to it which may appeal to buyers who are looking for a more premium alternative of the Ertiga.
The XL6 rides on all-black 15-inch alloy wheels which add to the overall look of the MPV as seen in the video. Changes at the rear include a new bumper along with a skid plate and black moulding that runs across the lower body of the car. On a whole, it may still be an Ertiga based vehicle but Maruti has done a commendable job to give it a muscular and bold appearance. Apart from the exteriors, another major highlight is the interiors which get quite a few changes. First up, the MPV carries an all-black interior theme while the top-end trim comes with leather upholstery. As the video shows, the interiors actually offer a premium feel when compared to the Ertiga.
The all-black dashboard gets a piano black finish around the infotainment system along with darker faux wooden inserts. Another big change is the presence of captain seats in the middle, which can slide and recline according to one’s comfort. Talking about features, the MPV comes with keyless entry with start/stop button, power socket in three rows, power-folding ORVMs, turn indicator integrated to the ORVM, 7.0-inch Smart Play infotainment system with voice commands, steering mounted control, driver seat height adjuster, cruise control, automatic climate control, and rear parking camera among others.
Maruti Suzuki XL6 is available with only a single-engine option, which is the 1.5-litre petrol unit that does duty on the Ertiga. This engine emloys mild-hybrid SHVS technology and churns out 105 Bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The manual transmission version offers maximum fuel efficiency of 19.01 km/l while the 4-speed automatic version returns a maximum of 17.99 km/l.
